This Privacy Policy explains what Bursary ("we," "us"), operated from New York, United States, collects, why, and your choices. Questions or requests: marco@bizbotics.io.
1. Information we collect
- Email address — when you join the waitlist or ask us to email you new matches.
- Profile information you submit — the free-text and selections you provide on the "Find" page (e.g. your role, location, and what you are building) so we can match you to programs.
- Payment information — processed entirely by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Local browser storage — we store your last inputs, matches, and a status list in your own browser (localStorage) so the Service works and remembers you on return. This is strictly functional — we use no tracking or advertising cookies.
2. How and why we use it (legal bases)
- To match you and draft applications — this is the service you request (performance of a contract under GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
- To email you new matches — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To take payment and provide support — to operate the Service.
3. AI processing & the third parties we share with
To generate matches and drafts, the text you submit is sent to third-party AI providers. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The processors we rely on:
- AI providers — Sakana AI, Groq, and Anthropic process the description you submit to produce rankings and draft text. We use their API services, which under their terms do not use your inputs to train their models; review each provider's policy for details. AI output may be inaccurate — verify before relying on it.
- Stripe — payment processing (policy).
- Resend — sends our emails (policy).
- Vercel — hosting and delivery.
We share personal information with these processors only to operate the Service, or where required by law.
4. Cookies & local storage
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies and we do not run third-party analytics that profile you. The only data kept in your browser is the strictly-necessary functional data described above, which you can clear at any time from the Service ("Start fresh") or your browser settings. Because this storage is strictly necessary to deliver the service you requested, no consent banner is required.
5. International users & transfers
We operate from the United States; if you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information is processed in the U.S. Where required for transfers of EU/UK personal data, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses with our processors.
6. Retention
We keep your email while you are subscribed to updates and for a reasonable period after; profile inputs are kept only as needed to provide and improve the Service or as stored in your own browser. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, email marco@bizbotics.io. EU/UK users also have the right to complain to their data-protection authority. We do not make solely-automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you; our matches are informational.
California: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics. You may still request access or deletion as above.
8. Email & unsubscribe
Every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link and our postal contact; we honor opt-outs promptly. You can also unsubscribe by emailing us.
9. Children
The Service is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security & changes
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, though no method is perfectly secure. We may update this Policy; the "Last updated" date reflects the latest version.
